Governor, Advisor Kumar congratulate Bhanu Pratap for bringing laurels to J&K

SRINAGAR, Aug 23: Governor Satya Pal Malik today extended warm felicitations to son of the soil Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh for winning bronze medal in 60 KG category of Wushu championship in the ongoing Asian Games.
Bhanu Pratap Singh, a resident of Muthi in Jammu, registered an emphatic quarterfinal victory over his Philippines rival in the men’s 60-kg category on Tuesday. He lost the semi-final bout against Erfan Ahangarian of Iran after suffering an injury in the ongoing Asian Games at Jakarta-Palembang (Indonesia) on Wednesday.
“We are really proud of his performance in the prestigious sporting event,” Governor said in his felicitation message.
Governor also congratulated Kuldeep Handoo, another son of the soil and coach of the Indian Wushu contingent at the Asian Gmaes.
Meanwhile, Advisor to Governor K Vijay Kumar has also felicitated Bhanu Pratap Singh for the emphatic victory.
Advisor Kumar said Bhanu Pratap Singh would be adequately rewarded by the Governor’s Administration on his return from Jakarta for his splendid performance in the Asian Games.
He said the Governor’s Administration is laying renewed focus on promoting sports in the State and in this regard a new Sports Policy is being formulated to institutionalize the sports culture in J&K. He said various incentives are being proposed to encourage grooming of professional sportspersons in the State.
Former Minister and Senior Congress Leader R S  Chib also felicitated Bhanu Pratap for winning bronze medal in Asian Games.
He said that Bhanu is the son of renowned wrestler Balkar Singh, who is the original resident of his village Satrayan (Suchetgarh).
Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association has hailed the performance of India wushu team especially son of soil Bhanu Partap Singh and his coach Kuldeep Handoo (Indian Wushu Coach).
Lauding Mr Bhanu for his achievement, Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary J&K Olympic Association said that JKOA will soon organise a function to felicitate ace Fencers, Wushu Players and Mountaineers, who have brought laurels or the State.
