Governor calls for strengthening Scouts and Guides movement in J&K

JAMMU, Nov 11: Governor N. N. Vohra has called for enlarging and strengthening the Scouts and Guides movement in the State.
The Governor, who is the Patron of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, was interacting with a large group of Scouts and Guides who, along with their instructors and functionaries of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, called on him at Raj Bhavan here today, in connection with their Foundation Day and Annual Flag Day celebrations.
Usha Vohra, First Lady, was present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the Governor congratulated all the functionaries of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides and the Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers and Bulbuls present on this occasion and particularly complimented I.D. Soni, State Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides; Roma Wani, Senior Vice President, J&K State, Bharat Scouts and Guides; and Nasreen Khan, State Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides for their long and devoted service to the Scouts and Guides Movement.
Congratulating the functionaries and the Scouts and Guides for their significant achievements in prestigious national events, the Governor observed that besides helping in character building and promoting the spirit of camaraderie and brotherhood activities of scouting and guiding enable youth to acquire skills in varied survival techniques which are of great benefit in their later lives.
The Governor observed that this movement, which promotes holistic development of the younger generation, needs to be strengthened by strong funding from Government and society. The Governor called upon all sections of the society to contribute generously to the Annual Flag Day Fund, for facilitating enhanced Scouts and Guides activities in the State.
The Governor and the First Lady made a contribution to the Annual Flag Day Fund and wished the Scouts and Guides high success in their mission.
Earlier, the Scouts and Guides presented Scarves to the Governor, the First Lady; P K Tripathi, Principal Secretary to the Governor; and pinned on them the Flag Day stickers, which are symbols of the Scouts and Guides movement.
In his welcome address, Roma Wani, Senior Vice President, J&K State, Bharat Scouts and Guides, dwelt on the activities of the organization undertaken in the recent past and those planned for the coming months.
Among those present on the occasion were Farooq Ahmed Shah, Secretary Tourism, Babila Rakwal, Director School Education, senior functionaries of the organization and large number of Scouts and Guides.
