Governor lays foundation of 8 residential buildings at SMVDIME

JAMMU, Mar 29: Governor, N N Vohra, has stressed the need for expeditious completion of the upcoming Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) at Kakryal and of the other major ongoing projects of the Shrine Board.
The Governor said this while laying the foundations for the construction of 8 buildings blocks in the upcoming SMVDIME complex last evening. Being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 51 crore, these buildings are Dhanvantri Bhawan and Aayush Bhawan (Senior Resident Doctors’ Accommodation), Ashvin Bhawan (Doctors’ Hostel), Nivedita Bhawan (Nurses’ Hostel), Sushruta Bhawan (Accommodation for Ancillary Staff), Charak Bhawan (Class-IV Accommodation), Aarogya Bhawan (Patients’ Inn), and Sanjeevani Bhawan (Guest House). Work on the construction of some of these buildings has already commenced on the ground.
This Multi-Superspecialty Hospital is being constructed by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board to provide quality medical services to the general public of the surrounding areas, the progressively increasing number of Yatris to Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji Shrine, and for the benefit of the society at large.
The Governor inspected the main building of the upcoming institute and also viewed the 3-level parking facility for 300 vehicles which has been partially constructed in the institute premises.
Later, the Governor, who is the Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, chaired a meeting to review the to-date status of work of this upcoming Institute of Medical Excellence and of the various other major infrastructure development projects being implemented by the Shrine Board for meeting the future requirements of the ever increasing number of pilgrims.
Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Member, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, H. L. Maini, Member and Technical Consultant of the Board, Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor and Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Additional CEO, Dr. Vinod Gupta, Medical Superintendent of SMVDIME, and other concerned officers of the Board participated in the meeting.
The Governor asked for putting in place all the required equipments and other infrastructure for the expeditious completion of SMVDIME.
The CEO informed that the Board is tying up all the requisite arrangements, including identifying and finalizing the partner for the project to make the institute operational in the coming months.
The Governor took a detailed review of all other major development schemes of the Shrine Board and issued instructions for their time-bound completion. He also issued instructions for laying greater emphasis on undertaking plantation activity in the shrine area, making available more locker facilities and reconstruction and upgradation of Toilet Blocks.
The projects which the Governor reviewed include Multipurpose Sports Stadium at Katra, Emergency Helipad near Panchi View Point, Dedicated Mule Track, Aashirwad and Parvati Bhawans, Pony Shed at Bhawan, Kalika Dham at Jammu, stabilization of falling stones and landslide prone areas on the track, Dormitory Accommodation at Adhkwari, retiling of the various stretches of the track, construction of track dividers and Mahadev Temple at Reasi.
