Governor should revoke SROs 202, 520: Manohar

KATHUA, July 27:  Former minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has urged upon the Governor NN Vohra to revoke SROs 202 and 520 as it has caused serious damage to the unemployed  youth in the State.
In a press statement here  the Congress leader said the educated, skilled and well qualified candidates when selected for a Government job after passing through written tests and interviews conducted by recruiting agencies of J&K, are paid a meagre salary of  Rs 7000 to Rs 8000 per month after appointment. Contrary to that  the co- employees who were appointed before 30.06.2015 are being paid full salary and perks.
It is pertinent to mention here that J&K being employment deficient, most of the youth get employed in thirties and are left with less service to serve departments which ranges between 20 to 28 years. The Class -IV employees working in the department are getting higher than the newly appointed employee with skilled technical hands (Non-Gazetted) and counted at top in working class employees which results in inferiority complex and causes less devotion towards performing duties with zeal and zest.
Talking about SRO 520 Dr Sharma said that it is nothing but eyewash and a meager relief to the casual, seasonal and daily rated workers, who have been waiting for regularization with all service benefits for years together. He further  said that instead of treating them as full-fledged Government employees, these workers are expected to be designated as Government Service Assistants (GSAs), while in reality they have to work as contractual workers with category wise wages and without full service benefits.
The fact is that only a bare minimum guarantee has been given to these workers by allowing them the payment of a fixed sum of money and that too, after 10 years of regular service, as such this is sheer exploitation of the working class.
The need of hour is that Governor should  revoke the SRO 202 & SRO 520 at an earliest to safeguard the future of educated youth of the State.
