UDHAMPUR, Feb 19: Government Degree College Udhampur is organizing 1st State level Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Championships (men and women) for the Annual Silver Rolling Volleyball Trophies instituted by Governor NN Vohra from February 21, 2014, here.
Giving details of this mega event in a press conference organized in this connection Principal of the College Prof SS Bhalwal said that the first of its own kind in any College of the State, this tournament will be inaugurated by NN Vohra, Governor J&K on February 21 at 11am.
In addition to providing a platform to the potential sportspersons of this area to interact with their counterparts from other parts of the State, this Event will also work towards generating an understanding among the youth of Kashmir and Jammu Divisions.
The organizers said that their alumni achievers who have excelled in this field and brought honor to the college will also be honored in this event.
They said that an Appeal and Jury Committee comprising senior sports administrators and sportspersons has also been constituted for the smooth conduct of this event, adding that a Control Room has also been installed under the supervision of Dr Udey Bhanu, HoD Mathematics.
30 college teams from all over the State of Jammu & Kashmir have consented to participate in this tournament.
