Govt admits docs, paramedics’ posts lying vacant in Valley

SRINAGAR, June 3: Government today admitted that a number of posts of doctors and paramedics are lying vacant in Kashmir Division.
In a written reply to MLC Sofi Yousuf in Upper House, the Minster Incharge Health and Medical Education said it is a fact that a number of posts of doctors and paramedical staff are vacant in Kashmir province. “However, these vacant posts have already been referred to the concerned recruiting agencies for making suitable selections,” said the Minister.
He further stated that all the health institutions of the State including in Kashmir have been provided staff as per the status and are functioning smoothly.
“However, vide Government order number 585-HME of 2014 dated 17-10-2014, 217 existing Sub-Centres of Kashmir Division were up-graded to the level of NTPHCs along with creating of 217 posts of Medical officers for which final approval of Finance Department is awaited,” the Minister added.
