SRINAGAR, May 21: State Cabinet today approved amendments in the Jammu and Kashmir Compassionate Appointment Rules, 1994 notified vide SRO-43.
Under the existing provisions, an applicant under SRO-43 is considered for appointment against a vacancy in the lowest rank of non-gazetted service or Class-IV post provided he or she is eligible and qualified for such post or acquires such eligibility and qualification within a period of one year from the date of death of the deceased person.
This provision has now been amended and the applicants will be given period of five years from the date of death of the deceased person to acquire eligibility and qualification for appointment under SRO-43.
Similarly, the existing provisions of the Compassionate Appointment Rules state that SRO-43 is applicable to a civilian, who dies as a result of militancy related action (due to enemy action on the Line of Actual Control/International Border within the State) and not involved in militancy related activities and total income of the died civilian’s family from all sources doesn’t exceed Rs 5000 per month.
By amending this provision, the Government has increased the family income slab to Rs 10,000 per month.
Another amendment in the Rules pertains to the compassionate appointment for the adopted wards of the deceased.
“As per the Shariah law, adopted child is not the legal heir and in tune with this the Government has brought the amendment whereby no compassionate appointment will be made for the adopted wards of the deceased”, sources said.
