JAMMU, Oct 22: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla today said that the Government was committed to create healthy environment in every pocket of urban areas by improving sanitation condition and developing green patches.
Besides making available all basic facilities like education, healthcare, safe drinking water and quality power supply, the Government has paid focused attention on improvement of lanes, drains, roads and creation of green patches in the form of recreational parks to develop a healthy ambiance in the urban localities, he said.
The Minister was interacting with the residents of Govindpura Kullian and Sanjay Nagar after launching Rs. 17 lakh development works.
Mr. Bhalla informed the residents that all out efforts are being made to beautify all the open spaces of Govindpura Kullian and Sanjay Nagar by developing recreational parks to give a face-lift to these areas. He asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to remove bushes and renovate the damaged walkways in the parks in these areas. He called upon the people of the area to desist from dumping debris and domestic waste in lanes and drains, adding that such practices create hindrances for executing agencies and spoil the beauty of the areas.
The Minister said that the Government was endeavoring hard to develop modern and need based infrastructural facilities in the state, adding to meet this goal all the departments are working in an organized and coordinated manner for ensuring better services to the people.
Listing the development works completed in these localities, Mr. Bhalla said the multipurpose community halls costing Rs. 9 crore have been constructed in Bahu Fort, Govindpura Kullian, Barzalla, Gorkha Nagar, Shree Rabi Dass Biradari, Channi Rama, Malik market, Raipura Satwari, Gangyal and Babliana for the convenience of the people. He said in these public complexes the residents can arrange functions on minimum charges.
The Minister called upon people to avail benefits under Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) scheme under which Rs. 2.75 lakh are provided for construction of pacca houses to the urban poor. He called upon them to approach JMC authorities and fulfill the codal formalities to avail the relief under BSUP. He said under BSUP the beneficiary would get Rs 2.75 lakh in three installments and asked the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously for construction of pacca houses.
Earlier, Minister for Floriculture Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed and Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla also inaugurated Eidgah at Digiana, for which Auqaf Department has spent Rs. 26 lakh on development of prayer hall and premises besides making available drinking water, power and toilet facilities.
