Govt committed to redress people’s grievances at their doorsteps: Sharma

KISHTWAR, May 2: Minister of State for R&B and Revenue Sunil Sharma today said that the Government is committed to redress the grievances and sufferings of the people living in far flung and backward areas of the State by extending all basic services to their doorsteps in a phased manner.
For the purpose short term and long term planning is being made and a discernable change would be seen on the ground in near future, the Minister told people at a Public Grievance Redressal camp-cum- Public Darbar held at Nagseeni Block.
Mr. Sharma said that Government is fully aware about the problems and burning issues of the people in the area and steps are being taken to mitigate them in shortest possible time. He said far reaching reforms are being introduced in all the departments to improve service delivery and expedite development projects. He said that the field functionaries of all the line departments have been directed to work with transparency, accountability and honesty for the benefit and welfare of poor masses.
The Minister also said that Nagseeni Block being close to the District Headquarters Kishtwar, is one of the most backward areas of the State and all out efforts will be made by the Government to uplift the living conditions of the people in the area. He said lack of quality education is the main reason for the backwardness of Nagseeni Block and steps are afoot to bring improvements. He also said that for ensuring punctuality in the schools, Government is making a policy for the Bio-metric attendance of the staff.
The Minister also directed Tehsildar Nagseeni to conduct surprise inspections of the schools to ensure punctuality of the staff.
The Minister also reiterated that the Government will root out the menace of corruption from the state for which innovative and public friendly steps have been taken. He said that those officers/ officials who were found indulging in corruption would be dismissed from services and prosecuted under law.
Regarding the issue of LPG outlet in Nagseeni Block, Minister assured the gathering that the matter will be taken up with the concerned Ministry without any delay. He also revealed that an Agriculture Research Institute, Furniture Manufacturing Industry, District Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Herbal Medicinal Plant Institute for the Nagseeni area are under consideration of the Government. Mr. Sharma also announced that Pullar- Chingnana road will be constructed soon.
Earlier prominent citizens and sarpanches apprised the Minister about their grievances which include Drinking water shortage in Chergi village, Providing of solar lights in the area, Irrigation canals, Flood protection works, Land protection work over sinking and sliding areas, immediate disbursement of pending wages under MGNREGA, awareness camps through horticulture , agriculture and other allied departments, shifting of Block offices from Kishtwar to Nagseeni, improvement of Bhagna-Bhatan- Dimgi road, payment of land compensation to owners of land acquired for various roads, supply of free timber to the rain and flood affected people, plantation through SFC on the barren land and stretches prone to slides, supply of K-Oil and construction of various sanctioned School buildings.
