JAMMU, June 11: Keeping in view the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) mode of examination recently declared by University of Jammu for college students, Govt Degree Colleges organised various online inter-collegiate quiz competitions.
Department of Chemistry of GDC Kathua organised a national level quiz competition on “Spectroscopy and Active Methylene Compounds” in which 785 participants from all over the India took part.
The competition was conducted by Prof Rakesh Singh. The overall programme was organised under the supervision of Prof Asha Ram Sharma, Principal of the College, Prof Sumanesh Jasrotia, HOD Chemistry and with active cooperation of Dr Pankaj Gupta (Co-organising Secretary).
Professor Singh said that another achievement of the competition was that the students of the College got the opportunity to compete with the students from highly reputed colleges and universities of the country.
Roshani Bandral of GDC Kathua secured top position, Chhavi Khajuria of GNDU Amritsar bagged 2nd position and Reshma Hasib of Aligarh Muslim University (UP) and Chanchal Singh of GDC, Ramban shared 3rd position whereas Dessai Divya of Carmel College for Women Nuvem (Goa), Naiyera of Nilamber Pitamber University (Jharkhand), Satish Sharma and Raksha Lalotra of GDC Kathua were awarded with consolation certificates.
NSS unit of Government Degree College Samba organized an online essay writing competition on the theme “Social Distancing” under the patronage of Dr Sushma Mahajan, Principal of the College.
About 53 students of different colleges and universities from different States and UTs participated in the competition.
The competition was adjudged by Dr Ram Singh, HOD Education, Prof Kamaljeet Choudhary, HOD Hindi, Prof Geeta Lakhotra, Department of English and Dr Rajni Sharma, Department of Economics.
First position was bagged by Diksha Verma, Central University of Jammu, second position was won by Aditi Thakur of GDC Reasi and third position was shared by two students namely Shewani Devi of GDC Samba and Nair Shreya Shiv Shankar of Amati Institute of Education, Amati University.
Government Degree College Ramgarh organized an online inter-collegiate competition on the topic “One Minute Video Message on COVID-19 Warriors.”
Students from various colleges of J&K UT participated enthusiastically in the event.
First prize was bagged by Inderpal Kour of GDC Nowshera, Navjot Singh of SPMR College of Commerce clinched second prize while Jyoti Sharma of GCW Udhampur secured third prize. The two consolation prizes went to Poonam Devi and Shikha Sharma, both from GDC Ramgarh.
Dr Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College lauded the role of the organizing committee members, Dr Sandeep Kumar and Prof Risha Kumari for organising the event.
She thanked the adjudicators of the program, Dr Kamaldeep Singh of GDC Kathua, Dr Randheer Kour GDC Bishnah and Dr Manjeet Singh GDC Kunjwani for sparing their precious time for the event.
An online inter-collegiate quiz competition on the topic “Biotechnology and Tissue Culture” was organised by Department of Botany, Government College for Women Kathua.
The programme was organised by Madhvi Parasher, organising secretary of the competition in which total 140 students of various colleges participated.
The quiz was organised under overall supervision of Dr Y P Kundal, Principal of the College.
Mansi Rajput of GCW Udhampur, Pankaj Sharma of GLDM College Hiranagar, Navneet Kaur, Shubham Sharma and Raksha Lalotra of GDC Kathua stood first by securing 90 percent marks in the competition, whereas Isha Sharma and Belal Ahmed of GDC Poonch, Priya Darshi, Deepika and Priyanka of GDC Kathua, Palvi Mahajan and Manella of GCW Udhampur, Matloob Ahmed of GDC Mendhar and Anamika Sharma of GDC Akhnoor shared 2nd prize by securing 85 percent marks.
The 3rd position was shared by Satish Sharma, Muskan and Sonu Sudan of GDC Kathua, Anjali Jamwal, Naina Devi and Arunima Gupta of GCW Udhampur, Arusa Maroof of GDC Mendhar, Ajvir Rana of GDC Doda and Harshita Vyas of GCW Kathua by securing 80 percent.
