Committee to identify gaps, propose interventions

JAMMU, May 3: For interlinking of budget with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Union Territory of J&K and achievement of committed targets by 2030, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a committee.
The committee shall identify gaps in various sectors as per SDG targets/goals and propose possible interventions through budgetary provisions of concerned departments besides looking after the functioning, operation and timely completion of works related to the project.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer a roadmap for equitable, inclusive, and comprehensive governance, focusing on economic, social and environmental aspects of development planning.

Headed by Administrative Secretary, Planning Development & Monitoring Department, the committee shall analyze the SDG framework adopted in the Union Territory of J&K and earmark the important activities.
It shall streamline the state budgetary alignments of BEAMS portal with that of SDGs, to make budgetary process seamless based on ‘Haryana model of Interlinking of Budget with SDGs’. It shall map schemes/activities with SGD Goals and targets besides understanding the BEAMS Portal and its interlinking with SDGs.
Further, the committee shall monitor achievement of targets and goals under SDG by various departments and get the SDG Action Plan prepared from SDG Coordination Centre, J&K.
Director General, PM&CE, Director Finance and Director SDGs of the Planning Development & Monitoring Department; Rajesh Kumar Scientist-F-NIC and Deputy Director Budget, Finance Department are among Members of the Committee while Deputy Director, Planning Development & Monitoring Department is the Member Secretary.
Besides, Technical UNDP Experts of SDGCC-J&K, including Ratan Ranjan (Policy Analyst), Tanu Kathuria (Research Associate) and Ghansham Singh (Project Associate /Data Analyst) are also the Members of the committee.
