Govt to hold NEET like exams for Ayush medical colleges: Mishra

 

NEW DELHI: The Government is considering holding entrance examination to AYUSH medical colleges located across the country on the lines of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) from next year at an all-India level.

Stating this, Health Secretary C K Mishra told the National Health Editors’ Conference on Yoga here that from next year, medical colleges will be opened for the purpose of providing yoga education.

 The Government is already hopeful that yoga can become an employment generator.   It is also interested in creating employment through imparting the benefits of yoga to the common people  so that they can get simultaneously both the benefits, the Health Secretary said.

He said the Government is making every effort to promote Indian medical practices. ”The Government  wants to improve health services in the country with the coordination of both the allopathic and Ayush  medical systems,” he told the gathering.

On the occasion several yoga experts highlighted the importance of yoga in relation to human health.

Today’s event was a run-up to the Second International Yoga Day which will be organised in Lucknow,  in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate.       (AGENCIES)
