JAMMU, Oct 31: Development of religious places for promotion of pilgrim tourism in the State is the top priority of the Government.
This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh during the inauguration of sun shade at existing path of Bawe Wali Mata Temple constructed at a cost of Rs 28.50 lakh by Jammu Development Authority.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister stressed that Government is taking requisite steps to improve facilities at prominent places of religious and tourist importance and focus is being laid on optimally tapping the tourism potential of the area. He said that City of Temples has been a major pilgrim tourist destination and requisite initiatives will be taken to enhance amenities for the pilgrims and make their stay comfortable and their visit a memorable one.
“Government is making dedicated effort to boost the vast religious potential of the state”, Dr Singh asserted.
He said that Central and the State Government have taken path breaking initiatives to ensure equitable development of all the regions of the State with prime focus on welfare of the people with effective service delivery mechanism and good governance.
He asked Jammu Development Authority to ensure time bound completion of the ongoing development works for betterment of the people. He also called for regular monitoring of the projects to meet the quality norms and timelines.
Among others, Vice Chairman JDA, R K Shavan and other senior officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
