Govt making efforts to bring in changes in edu sector: Priya

GANDERBAL, Sept 15: Minister of State for Information, Culture and Education, Priya Sethi, said that the Government is making concerted efforts to bring in change in the education sector. She added that various initiatives have been taken to transform the education system viz, model school scheme.
The Minister stated this while speaking at a function organized to celebrate Annual Day at Vijay Memorial School here.
The Minister said that the school has played an important role in imparting quality education in district Ganderbal. She said that in addition to academics attention has also been given to extra-curricular activities at the school that help in all round development of the students.
Addressing a well attended gathering, the Minister highlighted importance of educating girl child and its role in building a progressive and healthy society. Stressing on other important issues that affect youth of today, the Minister highlighted the need to spread awareness among them with regard to drug abuse and its harmful effects.
At the outset Principal of the School in his welcome address apprised the audience about various achievements of the school.
District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, speaking on the occasion, appreciated and encouraged teachers and student for organizing such an event, which helps in polishing talent and skills in the students.
SP Ganderbal, Imtiyaz Ismail Parray was also present on the occasion.
