Govt names first 20 smart cities; Bhubaneswar top winner

NEW DELHI: The Government today announced first 20 cities, including New Delhi among other, which would be developed into smart cities.

Bhubaneswar is the top winner of the competition among states held last years for securing the smart city project.

The 19 other cities are New Delhi, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Indore, Guwahati, Ludhiana, Belgaum, Kochi, Jaipur, Surat, Jodhpur, Bhopal, Coimbatore, Kakinada, Davangere, Udaipur, Sholapur and Visakhapatnam.

Announcing the names of the winner cities, Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu said 15.20 million people participated in the process, which showed the level of interest in the project. (AGENCIES)
