Govt has no concrete plan for exiled Pandits return: YAIKS

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 21: Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) while expressing serious concern over the failure of the Union as well as State Government to settle the issue of displaced Pandits who are leading an exiled life for the last 27 years outside the Valley said that the community has lost its faith and trust on the political dispensation which ruled the country in last 27 years of their exile as except the hollow claims they did nothing in concrete for permanent rehabilitation of the community.
The YAIKS Core Group which met here today under the leadership of its president R K Bhat to discuss the statement of Samajwadi Party senior leader Amar Singh who has said that KPs will be rehabilitated in UP, said that it is a matter of solace for the community that at least some national leader has stood by the community while the leaders who ruled the country over the years betrayed it.
Mr Bhat while addressing the meeting termed the claims of the Government regarding the rehabilitation of Pandtis in Valley totally hollow and said when it could not rehabilitate 1800 employees appointed under PM’s job package during last six years how can it rehabilitate a community of over seven lakh people in Valley.
He said that it is quite unfortunate that this microscopic community is struggling for last 27 years in exile for their rehabilitation in their homeland but they are being totally neglected by the Government. Is there no place for the community and how long this will continue, he asked?
He said it is a bolt on Indian democracy and secularism that this peace loving community is leading an exiled life for last 27 years now and successive Governments have failed to protect its rights. He said from time to time the Government floated moves about the rehabilitation of the community but never a comprehensive long term plan for the same was drawn. He demanded a probe that the funds raised for rehabilitation of the community over the years have gone. He said lot of hope was generated among the community after Narendra Modi took over as PM in 2014 but he too has not taken any concrete step in this regard till date.
B K Bhat, Sunil Koul vice presidents AIKS, Manoj Handoo, Ajay Safaya, Sanjay Ganjoo, secretaries, Sunil Dhar, Manoj Baht and Ajay Koul organizers attended the meeting.
