JAMMU, Apr 9: Government Polytechnic Jammu organized a programme for the distribution of cheques among the students under ‘Person with Disability’ scheme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
The students with disability studying in the Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk, Jammu for three year engineering diploma courses were handed over their respective stipend in a well attended function.
The funds were allotted by the MHRD, New Delhi for supporting the studies of students under the category of ‘Person with Disability’.
Er. Ritu Jamwal, Principal of Government Polytechnic Jammu and chief Co-ordinator of the Scheme, along with the team members including Er. Amit Kumar Sharma, Project Champion of PWD Scheme, Er IJ Singh, Workshop Superintendent, Er KS Manhas, Head of Civil Engineering, Er Manish Kumar, Head of I&C, Er Vinay Gupta, HoD and other staff members of the Institution were present during the distribution of cheques.
It is pertinent to mention here that the’Person with Disability’Scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme under MHRD, Govt. of India for supporting the persons with disability. Under this scheme the Govt. Polytechnic Jammu is providing the stipend to its students to support their studies and daily need.
Speaking on this occasion, the Principal stressed upon the participants to create awareness about the scheme among the society so that the students with disability can take maximum benefit of this scheme and also to provide information about different engineering courses and the other formal courses being undertaken at Government Polytechnic Jammu and its extension centers.
