Govt to construct multi-storey complexes on outlived CAPD godowns

JAMMU, July 15: Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali has ordered for demolition of JAKFED fertilizer godowns which have rendered useless and in shabby conditions situated in the premises of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department land at Ware House near Polytechnic College, Bikram Chowk and Chatha.
He said that Government is contemplating to establish multi-storey complex with provision of shops, multiplex, etc on departmental land at Warehouse in order to make best use of the available land. This would help in revenue generation which would be utilized for upgradation and modernization of CAPD infrastructure. He directed the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu to facilitate the process of demolishing the godowns within shortest possible time so that the process for construction of proposed multi-storied buildings can be initiated at the earliest.
The Minister also inspected the proposed land for construction of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution office complex at Ware House and directed the Director CAPD to complete all the procedures for early construction of the building.
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Simrandeep Singh, Director CAPD, G. S. Chib besides other senior officers of CAPD Department.
