Govt to develop 100 smart tribal villages

SRINAGAR, Oct 10: Government will develop 100 smart tribal villages in the State where the population of tribal is over 60 percent.
Responding to Calling Attention Notice moved by MLA Nagrota, Devender Singh Rana, Minister for Tribal Affairs Zulfkar Ali told Legislative Assembly that Government is developing 100 villages as smart tribal villages in the State.
The Minister said that department is proposing to introduce a new concept under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme “Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Plan” for developing villages having 60 percent Tribal population as Smart/Model Tribal villages and in this behalf a proposal has been submitted to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for approval. “However, approval of the Ministry is awaited”, he said.
Zulfkar said that the smart villages will have common facilities, rural information centre, play ground, lanes, drains, anganwadi centre and sanitation.
