JAMMU, July 24: The State Government today constituted a committee to examine the reply of the concerned on Contempt Petition, titled Bhanu Partap Singh and others versus Chief Secretary and others, regarding placement of requisite indents or acquisition of the land situated at Shalimar Park, Katra in Reasi district and fix responsibility/lapses, if any, in the matter.
The committee, headed by Administrative Secretary Revenue Department, shall ascertain the chronological details of the land recorded in the name of various Government Departments prior to 1968 and whether the land owners had donated the land to the Government.
The shall ascertain reasons for not applying the provisions of Agrarians Reform Act, 1976 by virtue of which any land not in cultivating possession of a land owner in Kharief 1971 escheats to the State. Besides, it will examine the reply/response filed by the official respondents before the Court vis-à-vis the exact records of the cases and shall also ascertain the circumstances which led the Divisional Administration Jammu to place the requisite indents for acquisition of land instead of contesting it before the court- reasons thereof.
Administrative Secretary of floriculture, Gardens & Parks department, Administrative Secretary of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs and Deputy Commissioner Reasi shall be members of the committee.
