Grameen Bank celebrates NABARD’s foundation day

JAMMU, July 12: J&K Grameen Bank under the chairmanship of RK Chhibber in collaboration with NABARD organized various awareness programme on the eve of NABARD’s foundation day at village Utter Behni, Distt Samba.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Janak Raj Angural, General Manager, J&K Grameen Bank, informed the participants at length regarding the benefits of social security schemes named PMJJBY, PMSBY and Atal Pension Yojana.
He further informed that these schemes have been designed to provide security cover to the poor population, particularly those working in the unorganized sectors.
Vipan Gupta Manager MF&FI Department, spoke at length about various bank schemes. He made people aware of new Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in which the premium rates to be paid by the farmers have been brought down substantially.
DDM NABARD Surinder Singh also spoke on the occasion. The representatives of various Line Departments attended the programme. Besides, huge gathering Panchs, Sarpanchs of the area also attended the said camp.
Meanwhile, Financial Literacy Awareness Programme was conducted at village Mansar in district Udhampur today by NGO named Grameen Pragati Sangathan, Udhampur which was sponsored by NABARD under Financial Inclusion Fund.
The objective of the programme was to generate awareness about Financial Literacy among the rural masses. Manohar Lal, AGM (DD), NABARD, Udhampur was the chief guest and the programme was co-ordinated by Om Prakash, President, Grameen Pragati Sangathan (NGO). Branch Manager, EDB, Krimchi, Sarpanch and residents of the village Mansar attended the programme.
At the very outset DDM, NABARD said that doubling of income of the farmers by 2022 is the main focus of the Government of India and NABARD is also making all out efforts in this regard. The farmers were asked to diversify their farming by cultivating crops such as Aloevera, vegetables, flowers, etc. They were also urged to take up dairy farming along with agriculture. They were also encouraged for sheep and goat rearing to supplement their income.
Om Prakash guided the participants about SHGs and said that the objective of SHGs is empowerment of women by engaging them in income generating activities with the help of bank credit.
