Grand finale of ‘School Stamp Show’ concludes

SRINAGAR, June 2: The grand finale of School Stamp Show-2012 came to an end today with the awards function held at DPS School Srinagar. The show was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle in various schools of Srinagar.
John Samuel, Chief Post Master General, Jammu and Kashmir Circle gave away the awards. In the Inter School Quiz Awards programme, Government Boys Higher Secondary School Batmaloo was the winner followed by Burn Hall School with second position while as the third position was bagged by St. Paul’s School and Army Public School jointly.
As a part of School Stamps Show, letter-writing competition was organized in 12 schools under the topic “Letter to my Teacher”. More than 10,000 students from 12 schools participated in the letter writing competition. Vijay Dhar, Chairman D P Dhar Memorial Trust appreciated the school children who were involved in letter writing. He said the letter writing and philately exhibition should become an annual event in the schools.
Inter school debate was also arranged on the topic “Is the Post Office relevant in the modern era”. In this category the gold medal was bagged by the Salman Shah of DPS Athwajan and Reya Samyal of Army Public School.
Speaking on this occasion Samuel said the theme based philately exhibition on films will be organized during the Ladakh International Film Festival between June 14 and 17. He said the exhibition will showcase more than 25000 stamps on film personalities and films brought out by India and other countries.
