JAMMU, Nov 8: Daleep Singh, popularly known as Great Khali, World’s renowned WWE International Wrestler attended the Closing Ceremony of the Jammu District Wrestling Championship as a special guest at Bajrangi Akhara, Shalamar, here today.
Mr Khali was accompanied by his close associate Dusyant Sharma, president J&K Wrestling Association and former president Wrestling Association of India on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
The Championship was organized by J&K Wrestling Association, under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association.
About 100 wrestlers from different Centres, Akharas and Schools participated in the Championship.
The Championship was organized under the chairmanship of Pardeep Sharma, president Bajrangi Akhara.
The bouts were officiated by Sahil Sharma and Jai Bharat.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Ajay Vaid, Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, Vikas Gupta, Raju Sharma, Krishan Pahalwan, Satish Abrol, Vijay Pahalwan, Dheeraj Kumar, Mohd Sadiq and Ravinder Sharma.
Earlier, in 50 kgs category, Joginder won gold, Ravinder Singh bagged silver and Abhishek Singh claimed bronze, while in 57 kg, Amit Manhas bagged gold, while Rustam Choudhary and Sunil Singh claimed silver and bronze medals respectively.
In 61 kg, Irshad, Zulfikar and Talib Hussain bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in 65 kg, Munir, Bachan and Raman won gold, silver and bronze respectively.
Pankaj won gold in 74 kg, while Surinder Singh and Rahul claimed silver and bronze medals respectively, while in 84 kg, Haqat Ali bagged gold, Shakti Singh won silver and Bhadur clinched bronze.
In 97 kg,Pankaj Kumar won gold, Javed clinched silver and Baljit claimed bronze, while in 120 kg, Sunny, Ishaq and Dhanuk claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
