Great Khali to grace closing ceremony of Jammu District Wrestling C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 7: Daleep Singh, popularly known as Great Khali, World’s renowned WWE International Wrestler, close associate of Dushyant Sharma, president J&K Wrestling Association, will be the chief guest on the Closing Ceremony of the ongoing Jammu District Wrestling Championship on the occasion of Mahavir Jyanti, which got underway, here today.
Dushyant Sharma, former president Wrestling Federation of India and president J&K Wrestling Association inaugurated the 2-day Championship, being organized by J&K Wrestling Association under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council & J&K Olympic Association at Bajrangi Akhara, Shalamar, here today.
About 100 wrestlers from different Centres, Akharas and Schools participated in the Championship. The Championship is being organized under the chairmanship of Pardeep Sharma, president, Bajrangi Akhara, Jammu.
Bouts are being officiated by Sahil Sharma and Jai Bharat, while prominent among others who were present on the occasion were Vikas Gupta, Raju Sharma, Krishan Pahalwan, Satish Abrol, Vijay Pahalwan, Dheeraj Kumar, Mohd Sadik and Rajinder Sharma.
In 50 kg, Joginder, Abhik Singh, Gorav and Rajinder Singh entered semifinal, while in 57 kg, Amit Manhas, Sabar Hussain, Rajinder Singh and Sunil Singh entered the semifinal and in 61 kg, Munner, Raman, Mohd Asif and Rajinder Qualified for the semifinals, while the final match will be held tomorrow at the same venue in presence of Great Khali.
