GREF iron rods, diesel seized, one held

JAMMU, Aug 18: Akhnoor police today seized 300 liters diesel and 10 quintals iron rods of GREF, which had been smuggled out of their store, from the possession of a civilian Kuldeep Raj son of Amar Nath, a resident of village Malain in Akhnoor tehsil.
The civilian from whose possession the GREF material was seized has been identified as Kuldeep Raj son of Amar Nath R/o Malain, Jourian.
Police said the iron rods and diesel belonged to GREF, which had been engaged in construction of a bridge in the area but had smuggled the material and sold it. They added that involvement of the GREF officials, who were involved in smuggling the material and selling it to a civilian, was being probed.
A case in this connection has been registered at Akhnoor police station under Section 3/7 Essential Commodities Act, 409, 411 and 120-B RPC for further investigations.
An Akhnoor police station team headed by SHO Inspector Bharat Sharma made the arrest and recoveries.
