RAJOURI, Nov 9: A GREF worker was died after he received severe electric shocks while three others sustained injuries when a tipper while unloading sand was hit with the live electric cables in Dharamsal area of Rajouri district today.
Official sources said that mishap took place in Dharamsal area when the workers had been engaged by GREF on road construction work. As the driver lifted the back of the Tipper for off loading sand, the top side of the vehicle touched the live cables causing massive sparks. Four labourers received electric shocks and were injured.
While one of them was declared as dead, three others were admitted to Kalakote hospital. The deceased was later identified as Bittu Ram (30), son of Ram Ditta hailing from Mathyali in Taryath.
Three injured, namely Raja Ram (42), son of Beli Ram of Mathyani, Abdul Rashid (35), son of Qayoom Din, resident of Mogla and Kuldip Raj, son of Bal Krishan, resident of Taleri, Khawas are undergoing treatment at Kalakote. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
Later, the locals of the area held protest at Mogla and blocked road for some time. They were demanding action against the driver and compensation for the victim’s families.
