Sir,
During elections- whether Assembly or Parliamentary Booth Level Officers (BLOs) play an important role. These officers are considered to be eyes and ears of Election Commission of India. The high percentage of polling in recently conducted Parliamentary elections can be attributed to hard work put in by these officers.
But despite their huge importance in election process they are totally neglected by administration and despite giving them rewards they are targeted and harrased by the administration and also by their own departments from where they are deputed. First they are given only a meagre amount of their hard work which should be increased (ten thousand annually) and second they should be allowed to work in field for seven days (the dates should be published in newspapers by (CEO J&K) as BLO duty then only they can do justice with their work. CEO should give written directions to District Commissioners to ensure that BLOs should not be harrassed by their senior officers when they are on BLO duty as BLO duty is not allowed during school hours. It is not possible for a BLO to work simultaneously in school as well as in the field.
Yours etc…
