Group Centre CRPF celebrates ‘Valour Day’

JAMMU, Apr  9: Group Centre CRPF Bantalab today celebrated ‘Valour Day’ in the memory of six valiant CRPF men who on April 9, 1965, laid down their lives to repulse the attack of Pakistan Brigade at Sardar Post in Gujarat.
A small contingent of 2nd Battalion CRPF repulsed the 3,500-men strong Pakistani Brigade’s attack on April 9, 1965 at Sardar Post in Gujarat in which 34 Pakistani soldiers were killed. In the battle six valiant CRPF men laid down their lives at the call of duty. Since then, the day is being observed as ‘Valour Day’ in the Force.
To grace the occasion, GC, Bantalab today organized a felicitation programme in memory of the gallant action of CRPF heroes.
The chief guest of the function, KS Bhandari, IGP, J&K Zone was given Guard of Honour at Quarter Guard before the colourful programme started. Besides the chief guest, Kuldeep Dhar, IGP, Jammu Sector, DS Bains , DIGP, Sandeep Gokel, DIGP, RS Rautela, DIGP and officer SOs and men also graced the occasion with their valuable presence.
During this function the decorated retired and serving gallant soldiers of CRPF were felicitated by chief guest with a memento and bouquet.  After felicitation a documentary film featuring the gallant action of force personnel on April 9, 1965 was shown to all.
While addressing the force personnel, the chief guest appreciated the gallant action performed by CRPF personnel. He also appreciated varied roles of Force in terms of Internal security and appealed all to follow the dedication and valour shown by our heroes in past.
The function concluded with an oath ceremony and new released CRPF song which filled up all with the feeling of devotions to duty and service to nations.
