GRP nabs drug peddler with opium buds

JAMMU, July 15: Government Railway Police (GRP) nabbed a drug peddler along with opium buds, here today.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, the sleuths of GRP laid a naka and subjected a person for checking as he was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, GRP sleuths recovered 120 grams opium buds from the possession of the person and arrested him on the spot. He was carrying the opium buds in a bag covered with polythene.
The accused has been identified as Vicky, son of Nandu, a resident of Jalandhar, presently residing in Marathi Mohallah, Jammu.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station GRP against the accused and investigation started.
SSP Railways Rajinder Gupta said that the arrest was made in the wake of the increased security arrangements made in and around Railway Station Jammu during the ongoing Shri Amarnath yatra.
He added that GRP will continue with its drive and will arrest the drug peddlers, who use train services to pump the narcotic substances in Jammu and Kashmir.
