JAMMU, Nov 19: A lady officer of GRP Jammu was assaulted by some unknown miscreants in the jurisdiction of police station GRP Jammu, late last night.
According to a police official, an Inspector rank officer of GRP Jammu identified as Anita Chopra (NGO No 3021) daughter of Omparkash Chopra, resident of Marble Market, Channi Himmat, Jammu, was on night checking at Railway Station Jammu, when some unknown persons launched a physical attack on her.
“In the attack, the lady officer, who was presently posted at GRP Line Jammu, sustained serious head injuries. She was immediately rushed to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, from where she was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu”, the official said.
He further informed that in the scuffle with the attackers, identity card of one of the attackers fell down on the spot, which was later recovered by the police. “As the recovered identity card was of an Air Force official, it is being presumed that all the attackers were Air Force officials”, he added.
The police official said that a case has been registered under relevant sections at police station GRP Jammu and investigations started.
