GRP shouldering responsibility of passengers, pilgrims safety: IGP

JAMMU, May 26: Government Railway Police (GRP) is shouldering responsibility of safety and security of the passengers and pilgrims, who visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji at Katra.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Railways Rajesh Kumar during interaction with officers and officials of Railway Sub Division Katra and Udhampur at GRP Lines Katra today.
The interaction was also attended by the officers including Ranjit Singh Sambyal, SSP Railways Katra, SDPO Railways Katra, SDPO Railways Udhampur, SHO and Incharge Police Posts and other officers of GRP Katra.
IGP impressed upon the personnel to plan the security at the railway stations and track in a manner so that responsibility of every GRP personnel deployed will be fixed. It should be ensured that no passenger or visitor is permitted to enter the Railway station premises without frisking and thorough checking of his luggage through installed X-ray baggage scanners, he said.
He instructed the GRP personnel to perform their duties with high alertness and keep a close watch on the anti-social and anti-national elements.
He briefed the jawans and officers with regard to the different welfare schemes initiated by the department to provide assistance to the police personnel.
He directed the supervisory officers to attend the welfare cases of the needy personnel on priority and forward the cases to higher offices for necessary action accordingly.
IGP gave a patient hearing to the grievances of the officers and officials and issued on spot directions for their redressal.
SSP Railways Katra gave a detailed briefing to the IGP with regard to the manpower deployed at the railway stations and about 66 kilometers railway track falling in the jurisdiction of GRP Katra for the safety and security of the railway system.
