Gujjar leader meets Governor

JAMMU, Feb 24: Ch. Zaffar Ali, a prominent leader of Gujjar Community, called on Governor N N Vohra, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Choudhary Zaffar Ali apprised the Governor about the various hardships being faced by the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities and emphasized the urgent need to implement a suitable rehabilitation plan for these nomadic tribes who are being moved out of the forest lands where they have been living for decades.
Recalling a meeting which the Governor had convened recently to discuss the broad contours of relocating and rehabilitating the nomadic families, the Governor informed Choudhary Zaffar Ali that he proposed to hold an early consultation with leaders of the community to formalize the envisaged approach to providing habitats and educational and medicinal facilities to the nomadic families among the two communities.
