JAMMU, Dec 7: Bharatiya Gujjar Mahasabha president Ishfaq-ur-Rehman today questioned the relevance and use of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Is it meant for betterment of people or depriving them of their rights?”, he questioned and demanded that better laws should be made in the State so that poor and backward sections of the society are benefited.
In a press statement, the Sabha president alleged that the funds meant for the betterment of Gujjars and Bakerwals were being misutilized resulting into the backwardness of this downtrodden section. He demanded that a separate Tribal Affairs Ministry should be created in the State for proper utilization of funds.
Criticizing political parties of the State for ignoring Gujjar and Bakerwals while announcing their candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he also demanded that political reservation should be granted to these communities.
