SRINAGAR, May 29: The Speaker Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul flagged off Annual Cross Country Run from Zabarwan to Botanical Garden organized by the Bonvant English School (BES), Nawakadal this morning.
A large number of students participated in the race.
Speaking on the occasion the Speaker said that aim of the race is to motivate general public and sensitise them accordingly adding that these types of races also provide much needed for youngsters especially the students to showcase their talent also. He said that the race and morning walk is essential for a good health of a human being and also keeps a person mentally and physically fit.
Referring to the Government endeavours initiated towards promotion of sports activities in the State, the Speaker said that the government has taken several reformative measures for upgradation of the needed infrastructure and holding of national and international championships.
Later Mr Gul distributed prizes and mementos among the participants.
