Srinagar, Aug 24: The residents of Gulabad Arampora in Sopore today demanded immediate replacement of cement electric poles with steel poles to avert any untoward incident.
“The issue is at Gulabad Arampora Lane 2 and there is a need for replacing the poles to prevent any untoward incident from happening,” the residents said.
The residents said that they have been asking the concerned department to carry out the replacement, but nothing has happened so far.
“It appears that they are waiting for some untoward incident to happen as they have been indifferent to our demands,” the residents
They said that these cement poles have been erected long back and can collapse anytime.
“These poles have lived their life and can collapse anytime. To avoid any eventuality, these poles must be replaced by iron poles at the earliest,” the residents said.
The concerned Executive Engineer, Tariq Maqbool told Excelsior that they have tendered out few works and the issue of replacement of electric poles at Gulabad Arampora will also be taken care of.
