Gulmarg closed for skiing after decrease in snow depth

Srinagar, Mar 30: The Tourism Department has ordered the closure of Gulmarg Ski Resort for Skiing for the season 2021-22 due to changing weather conditions and a substantial decrease in the snow depth.
In this regard, an order has been issued by the Assistant Director of Tourism, Gulmarg stating that following the directives, there will be no ski patrol/rescue available in the upper reaches.
“Keeping in view the insufficient snow depth and changing weather conditions, the inter spans activities viz. skiing, snowboarding etc inside the marked boundary and backcountry area of the slopes of Mount Aphanvat arc hereby officially closed w.e.f.31-03-2022,” the order issued reads.
In this regard, as per the order, all concerned have been informed that no ski patrol/rescue will be available in the above-said area after the specified date.
“Any Skier (Foreigner/Domestic/Local) skiing in the above-mentioned area shall be skiing on his/her sole responsibility and no Department shall be held responsible for any kind of injury or loss of life,” the order reads.
Also, it has been directed that the members of the ski patrol team and the associated staff shall report to the respective Department/ Corporation immediately.
