UDHAMPUR, Sept 7: Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology, Pawan Kumar Gupta today visited Latti and distributed ex-gratia relief of Rs. 37 lakh among the victims of Latti bus accident. Twenty four persons were killed in the mishap in May last.
The Minister handed over cheques amounting to Rs. 1 Lakh each to the next of the kin of deceased and Rs. 25000/- each among the 52 injured persons. A total of 76 affected families of Dudu, Jakhed, latti, Srinagar and Kupwara etc were covered under the ex-gratia.
Earlier, responding to the local issues, like opening of Degree college and ITI College, Munsiff court at Latti, KV school, start of Commerce faculty at Hr Sec School, Hostel rooms for Hr Sec School Latti, opening of CDPO, BMO and other Tehsil level offices at Latti, repair of Sudhmadev-Latti road and Town road Latti, shortage of staff in schools and other institutions etc, raised by the people during his visit, the Minister assured all possible help and redressal earnestly. He said that he will take these issues at appropriate level.
Later, an awareness programme was also organized by Horticulture Department at Latti in which MoS Finance & IT Mr Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.
During the programme, Minister apprised the people about the various Centrally sponsored schemes of the Horticulture department and urged upon them to benefit from these.
The awareness programme was held to generate awareness among the orchardists of the area about the latest techniques of farming by the Horticulture department. The Minister also inaugurated the Diamond Hill Resort at Latti.
MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat, Director Horticulture, Anil Sharma, SDM Dudu, Sandesh Sharma, Chief Horticulture Officer, C.L Sharma, officers of the Horticulture and Revenue departments, Panchs, Sarpanchs and a large number of local people were also present on the occasion.
