SAMBA, Jan 29: Gurha Slathia Cricket Club (GSCC) defeated Media Cricket Club (MCC) Jammu in a nail biting match by 3 runs, here today.
Uttkansh Slathia, captain of GSCC won the toss and elected to bat first but his decision quickly backfired as Sumit was out in first over of the bowling of Krish. But Veervijay and Nitin consolidated the innings before Nitin was bowled by Vivek Suri for 34 runs.
Akhil played a superb innings of 62 runs in just 27 bowls and took the score of GSCC to 179 runs by losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. For Media Cricket Club Jammu, Vivek Suri and Ashish Singh took 2 wickets, whereas Krish, Rahul Khatri and Raghav clinched 1 wicket each.
Chasing a victory target of 180 runs in stipulated 20 overs, MCC Jammu started on a disastrous note as opening Raghav was out on first over. Amit and Krish tried to build innings before Amit was out when the score was 32. The MCC innings started to tumble as Pawan too was out cheaply but Captain Vivek Suri and Krish brought back MCC in the game and shared a valuable 86 runs partnership in just 8 overs.
Vivek Suri played some scintillating shorts before he was out for 54 runs in just 27 balls, studded 3 sixes and 7 fours. Ashish gave a glimmer of hope to MCC as the team needed 14 runs in the last 6 balls but GSCC bowlers restricted them to 176 runs and won the match by 3 runs. For GSCC, Risha took 3 wickets, Uttkansh and Akhil shared 2 wickets and Nitin claimed 1 wicket.
Vivek Suri Captain MCC and Akhil were jointly declared as man of the match. The match was organized under the supervision of Uttkansh Slathia, Naib Sarpanch Gurha Slathia.
