Guru Partap’s brilliance helps Paradise XI to win cricket title via super-over

*Pranav, Parvesh, Guru bag special prizes

JAMMU, Nov 8: Veteran of many battles and former Ranji Trophy Player, Guru Partap Singh made his willow to talk to help formidable Paradise XI register a thrilling win over Legal Star XI via super-over in the final match of the cricket tournament to lift the title of the Lawyers Annual Sports Meet 2015, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Paradise XI scored a decent total of 161 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Guru Partap Singh was the top scorer with 63 runs, while Ravi Dogra and Ravi Abrol contributed 29 and 18 runs to the total respectively. For Legal Star, AP Singh, Pranav Kohli, Sami and Irfan Khan took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Legal Star managed to equal the target, thus the match ended in a tie and the decision of the match came via super over. Pranav was the highest scorer with 63 runs, while Gourav Jamwal contributed 41 runs and Sanjay scored 23 runs. Ishaan, Tareeq, Ravi Abrol and Guru Pratap Singh claimed 1 wicket each for Paradise XI.
In the super-over, Legal Star could manage to score 7 runs, which were comprehensively scored by Paradise XI, including superb six from Guru Partap Singh.
The best batsman of the tournament award was bagged by Pranav Kohli, while the best bowler of the Tournament award went to Parvesh Singh Salaria. The man of the final and the man of series awards were bagged by Guru Partap Singh.
Prize distribution ceremony was attended by Senior Lawyers which included UK Jalali (Sr. Advocate), SC Gupta, Babu Ram Sharma, KK Pangotra, SS Ahmed, Abhinav Sharma (president, JKHCBAJ), Rupinder Singh, DS Chauhan, Rajesh Thappa, Rajinder Jamwal, Ajay Bakshi and Pardeep Majotra.
