Gurudwara Joint Action Committee delegation meets Vyas

JAMMU, July 23: A delegation of All District Gurudwara Joint Action Committee (ADGJAC) here today met B.B Vyas, Advisor to Governor N.N Vohra and submitted him a memorandum containing demands of Sikh community.
The delegation expressed anguish over the inaction of authorities concerned in dealing with the recent incident of a Sikh girl in Tral and said that after this a sense of insecurity is prevailing among the community members.
The delegation further said that Prime Minister’s Special Employment Package in terms of SRO 412 was abrogated and new SRO 425 was brought which denies benefits to Sikhs living in Kashmir. Members of the delegation demanded that Sikhs should also be given the benefit of the special employment package.
Another demand included establishment of Minority Commission in the State and five per cent reservations for Sikhs till the Commission is established.
The delegation further demanded permission to install the statue of Baba Banda Singh Ji Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk and benefits of schemes initiated by the Central and State Governments to the educational institutions run by minority Sikh community so that these institutions may also be upgraded.
After listening to the delegation, Vyas assured to look into the demands seriously.

Manmohan Singh-Cashier DGPC Jammu, S. J.P Singh, S. Gurdeep Singh-Cashier DGPC Srinagar and All the elected members of DGPC J&K.
