Gymnasts Ravia, Karanjyot to represent India in Asian C’ship

JAMMU, Sept 19: The promising gymnasts of Jammu and Kashmir Ravia Verma and Karanjyot Singh have once again brought laurels to the State and made it proud as they have been selected to represent the Country in the Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships to be held at Palembang in Indonesia from October 16 to October 21.
The Championship is being organized by the Asian Gymnastics Union, under the aegis of International Gymnastics Federation.
Ravia, a student of BAMS from Jammu Institute of Ayurveda Institute & Research, Jammu would participate in individual women event of the senior category, while Karanjyot, a student Class 7th of KC International School, Akhnoor Road Jammu would take part in the individual men’s event of the sub junior category. Both the gymnasts are regularly taking training at Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium Jammu, under the guidance of S P Singh, gymnastics coach. They got selected during the selection trials held at Chandigarh last week.
Ravia and Karanjyot have won medals for the State during the various National Championships in their respective events.
The other Gymnast who will represent the Country in seniors categories are Sarvesh Bhale, Sidharth Kadam, Vandita Joshi from Maharashtra, Vishwa Patel from Gujarat and in juniors are Meet Kosambia and Kenny Desai from Gujarat, Jiniya Kundu from West Bengal and Arundhati, Ayushi and Sharvari from Maharashtra.
Shashi would accompany the team as coach.
Meanwhile, the office bearers of J & K Gymnastics Association have congratulated both the gymnasts and coaches for their selection in this International event and wished them success.
