JAMMU, July 18: The Haar Chuterdashi the birthday of Mata Jawala Ji was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety at Jawala Ji temple at Khrew in Pampore by the devotees of Mata today.
Despite the unrest in Valley a large number of devotees from villages of Pampore tehsil and Indira Nagar Srinagar thronged the shrine from early in the morning and participated in special pooja archna in the temple under the lotus feet of Goddess Jawala Ji which is the presiding deity of Kashmiri Pandits.
The jawans of security forces manning the holy temple at Khrew also participated in the pooja which continued for the entire day. After the pooja the devotees were served with the prashad.
During the pooja the Dharmarth Trust was represented by Harday Nath Bhat. Ravi Jai Bhat who along with a group of over 80 KPs participated in the function said thousands of people used to visit the holy shrine of Mata prior to mass exodus of Pandits from Valley and big religious congregation was held here on this day. Not only the KPs but Hindus from Jammu also used to pay their obeisance to Goddess Jawala Ji here on the occasion of Haar Chuterdashi, he added.
He said after reconstruction of the shrine the pooja was performed in the temple today.
The devotees on the occasion held special prayers for restoration of peace in the Valley so that the people of all communities can live in complete harmony as brothers like before.
