DODA, Jan 31: Fourteen-year-old Hafsah Khanday from Gadi, a remote village in Doda, has emerged as a rising star in women’s cricket. Competing in the 68th National School Games (Under-19 Women’s Tournament 2025) in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Hafsah delivered a standout performance that is catching the attention of cricketing circles across.
In Jammu & Kashmir’s 51-run victory over IPSC (Indian Public School Conference), Hafsah played a crucial role in the team’s success. She took 3 wickets for just 12 runs in 3 overs, displaying an impressive ability to generate bounce and pace, making it difficult for the opposition to score. Her aggressive bowling style rattled the IPSC batters, and she maintained an economy rate of just 3.33 runs per over.
In addition to her bowling performance, Hafsah also contributed with the bat, scoring 14 runs off 33 balls, remaining unbeaten and playing a vital role in helping J&K post a competitive total.
Hafsah, a 9th-grade student, has overcome numerous challenges to pursue her passion for cricket, particularly growing up in a village with limited facilities. Despite these obstacles, she has shown tremendous determination and is receiving unwavering support from her parents.
Her future ambitions are clear: Hafsah dreams of representing India in Under-19 Women’s World Cup and playing for Indian Women’s National Team.
After being named Player of the Match, Hafsah expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am thankful to my parents for their constant support. Coming from a small village, I never imagined I’d get such opportunities. My dream is to wear the India jersey one day, and I am working hard to make it happen.”
As J&K prepares for their upcoming quarter-final clash against Madhya Pradesh on February 1, all eyes will be on Hafsah. If she maintains her form, she could be a key player in leading J&K to glory. The final of the National School games Under-19 Women’s Tournament is scheduled for February 3, and Hafsah’s performances could help secure a top position for her team. With her raw talent, natural pace, and fearless attitude, Hafsah is certainly one to watch in the future of Indian women’s cricket.
