SRINAGAR, Aug 6: Outplaying Rangreth XI easily by 8 wickets in the summit clash, Haft Chinar XI won the title trophy of the 1st Narinder Pal Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament, which concluded at Amar Singh College ground, here today.
A total of 10 teams participated in this tournament, which was aimed at providing youth with a good platform to enhance their sports skill.
Earlier, Haft Chinar XI rode on a brilliant knock of 35 runs by man of the match, Jaideep Singh and chased the target easily by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets.
Dr Hartej Singh, Principal, College of Physical Education, Ganderbal was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Singh advised the players to participate in the sports activities with sporting spirit and vie for the honours.
He said such tournaments help budding sportspersons to fine-tune their skill to get ready for the tournaments played at the higher levels, adding that opportunity is the name of the game as showcasing skill without getting opportunity is to cry for the moon.
