KATHUA, Apr 10: Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today asked for constitution of joint teams of Agriculture and Revenue Departments to assess crop losses suffered by farmers due to recent rains
“The joint teams of Agriculture and Revenue Departments will assess the extent of damage to the standing crops including vegetables and other cultivations”, the Minister instructed during his tour to various affected areas of Kathua district.
Accompanied by Legislators, Kuldeep Raj, Rajiv Jasrotia, Additional District Development Commissioner Kathua N. S. Bali, Director Agriculture Jammu Dr. S. S. Jamwal, Director Command Area Development and other officer besides General Secretary, PDP Daman Bhasin, the Minister also visited Jandi, Bhana Chak, Sanyal, Jhangi Chak, Londi Morh, Mathura Chak, Chak Dhari, Darhalan, Barnoti, Chann Arorian and Barmori and interacted with the farmers there. Mr. Hanjura took stock of damages to standing crop of wheat, mustard and vegetables in the district.
The Minister stressed for close coordination between the officers of Revenue and Agriculture Department and said that their joint efforts will help in speedy assessment of the losses. He asked them to prepare detailed report in this regard and submit the same to the Government so that compensation is given to the deserving people.
Highlighting the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of PDP-BJP Coalition Government, the Minster said that the government was committed to provide better basic amenities to all.
MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj, MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia and General Secretary PDP Daman Bhasin also interacted with the farmers at different places and highlighted the programmes and policies present PDP-BJP coalition government. They also assured the farmers that every possible help will be provided by the government to the rain affected people.
Responding to the demands, including installation of bore wells, put forth by the farmers, the Legislators assured that the same will be projected at the appropriate forum of the Government for early redressal.
