JAMMU, Dec 5: Hanumant outclassed Anant Rohmetra in the summit clash and lifted the Cadet Boys’ category title organised during ongoing 35th Jammu District Open Table Tennis Championship at MA Stadium here today.
In the summit clash, Hanumant defeated Anant Rohmetra by straight 3-0 sets. In the first set, Hanumant trounced Anant by 14-12, whereas in the second set, Anant again failed to defend the attacks of Hanumant and lost the set by 12-10. In the third set, Anant tried his level best to win the set but failed and paved way for Hanumant to clinch the title by losing the set by 11-5.
Earlier, in the first semis, Anant trounced Jai Bhardwaj by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-9 and 11-9, whereas in the second semis, Hanumant outplayed Akhilesh by 2-0 sets. In the first set, enthusiastic Hanumant clinch the set by trouncing Akhilesh by 11-4, whereas in the second set, Hanumant continued his winning momentum and won the set by 11-4.
In the first quarterfinal, Anant Rohmetra thrashed Shobit by 2-0 sets (11-6 and 11-5), whereas in the second quarterfinal, Jai Bhardwaj routed Mukand Bairi by 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-6 and 11-6. In the third quarterfinal match, Akhilesh crushed Ritiam by 2-0 sets (11-8 and 11-8) and in the forth quarterfinal, Hanumant defeated Rajdeep by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-8 and 11-3.
Meanwhile, in Sub Junior Boys category, Mandeep Singh, Arjun, Ritvik, Ashank, Abhay Koul, Shobit and Amrit Koul outplayed their respective opponents and entered into the next round.
In the first match of the Sub Junior Boys category, Mandeep Singh beat Ketan by 2-0 sets and the score remained 12-10 and 11-4, whereas in the second match Arjun thrashed Anirudh Sawhney by 2-1 frames. In the first set, Arjun trounced Anirudh by 11-7, whereas in the second set, Arjun faced defeat and lost the set by 11-7. In the decider set, both Arjun and Anirudh tried best to clinch the set, but luck favoured Arjun, who won the set by 11-8 and entered into the next stage.
In the third match, Ritvik defeated Mustafa by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-9 and 11-7, whereas in the fourth match, Karan lost the game from Ashank by 2-1 sets. In the first set, Ashank registered win over Karan by 11-8, whereas in the second set, Karan bounced back and emerged winner by 11-6. In the last and decider set, Ashank trounced Karan with his attacking skills and won the set by 11-8.
In the fifth match, Abhay Koul routed Jai by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-7 and 11-4, whereas in the sixth match, Shobit thrashed Amrit by 2-0 sets (11-7 and 11-4). In the last match, aggressive Amrit Koul crushed Aryan by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-2 and 11-3.
