Hanumat outplays Sandeep by 3-2 to enter Men’s Single semis

JAMMU, Nov 12: Hanumat Sharma continued his dream run in the Jammu District Table Tennis Championship tournament when he defeated experienced Sandeep Khadotra by 3-2.
Trailing down two games, Hanumat kept his nerves and eventually overcame his senior counterpart in the decisive game to enter the Men’s Singles semis for the first time in his career.
With two top paddlers, Vasu Dewan and Shorya Sharma not taking part in the championship owing to injuries, top spots are up for grabs in the Men’s category.
In Cadet boys final, Arya Gupta beat Lakshay Sharma by 3-2, whereas in Cadet girls semis, Ragini beat Arya 3-1 and Hargun beat Snigdha 3-2.
In Men’s quarterfinals, Dheeraj Arora beat Asad by 3-0, Hanumat beat Sandeep by 3-2, Ritvik beat Anuj by 3-0 and Ketan beat Manandeep 3-2.
In Youth boys quarterfinals, Ritvik beat Maanay by 3-1, Saksham beat Ketan by 3-2, Anuj beat Hanmat by 3-0 and Asad beat Akhilesh by 3-0.
Among others present were Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra, Sanjeev Gupta and Vikas Magotra.
The matches were officiated by Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra (NIS Table Tennis coach), Meenu Rajesh, Asad Sharma, Manandeep Singh, Ritvik Gupta, Ketan and Anuj.
