Haq Khan reviews functioning of Rural Development Department

SRINAGAR: Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice, Abdul Haq Khan, today convened a meeting to review the functioning of the Rural Development Department (RDD), Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Director RDD, Kashmir, Gazanfar Ali, Director Rural Sanitation, Abdul Rehman Gassi, and other senior officials of the Department.

During the meeting, the Minister was briefed about the status ongoing development projects and their estimated costs. He was also informed about the projects completed recently.

With regard to the Swach Bharat Mission programme in the State, the Minister instructed the concerned officials to start the Solid & Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) programme in every block in Kashmir. He also asked the Director RDD to send a group of 30-40 employees to Jammu to get a first-hand experience in the implementation of the programme.

The Minister also directed for making the rural areas polythene-free and imposing fines on those using polythene.

On the occasion, the Minister instructed the officials to organize a Cricket Tournament in every district and provide all the necessary sports items needed for the tournament.
