JAMMU, Aug 19: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Law and Justice, Abdul Haq today exhorted upon the senior functionaries to intensify monitoring for effective implementation of schemes.
Speed up the pace of development projects and monitor the works closely, he directed the officers while chairing a high level meeting convened to review the functioning of Rural Development Department in Jammu Division here today.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary RDD, Nirmal Sharma, District Development Commissioner Jammu, Kumar Rajiv Ranjan, Director RDD Jammu, Ravinder K Bhat, Director Rural Sanitation, MM Ghasi, SE REW Jammu, Balbir Singh, ACDs, DPOs and Executive Engineers of all the districts of Jammu division, Deputy Director of Rural Sanitation Jammu, Deputy Director Planning, Jammu and other officers.
Highlighting the importance of participatory development, he stressed on involvement of the people at all levels by holding ‘Gram Sabhas’. He reviewed block and Panchayat wise achievements and took stock of physical and financial achievements under various schemes. The Minister laid optimum thrust on sanitation, convergence of MGNREGA, for creation of public assets. He also called for holding camps to complete the Adhaar enrolment in rural areas.
The Minister said that the Government has laid special thrust on rural development through a transparent and corruption free manner. He further said that the performance of the State in MGNREGA has been recognised at national level which became possible with due contribution of the people and the department.
The Minister stressed on concerned departments for better co-ordination for the overall development of the State. He asked for early clearance of all the liabilities and also laid stress on the involvement of all stakeholders in the planning process.
Abdul Haq also exhorted upon the concerned officers for proper verification of beneficiaries under PMAY and called for effective implementation of various schemes. He asked for laying special focus on hilly and far flung areas of the State and emphasized for equal distribution of funds to various constituencies under 13 FC.
