Harpreet, Akash, Pawandeep bag gold, silver, bronze medals in U-14 boys final

JAMMU, Sept 12: Jammu and Kashmir Gatka Association (JKGA) organised first open Jammu District Gatka Championship in KC Sports Club.
On the valedictory function, AK Misra, Principal KC Public School, Jasbir Singh, Chairman Unique Higher Secondary School and Iqbal Shah were the guests of honour. Manmeet Singh Amn, Chairman JKGA, HS Gill, Vice-Chairman and Ravinder Singh President were also present.
Around 100 gatka players both males and females from different schools, colleges, university, gatka training centre and akharas from Jammu District participated in this championship.
While speaking, HS Gill conveyed full support on behalf of the Rangil Singh, ex-Minister and President, Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association, who was the chief guest but could not attend the function due to some urgency.
In under-14 boys final, Harpreet Singh, Akash Deep Singh and Pawandeep Singh bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in girls’ category, Nittu Kour secured gold medal.
In under-17 boys final, Sarabjeet Singh, Onkar Singh and Mandeep Singh clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, whereas in under-19 final, Gagandeep Singh, Ranjit Singh and Manhasdeep Singh bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In under-19 stick fight, Rasleen Kour and Raspreet Kour claimed gold and silver medals respectively.
While speaking, guest of honour extended full support to JKGA for providing the platform for the promotion of gatka in the State.
Manmeet Singh Amn while addressing detailed about the aims and objectives of Gatka Association for the promotion of this martial art game in an innovative way.
The matches were officiated by Amarjeet Singh, Coach JKGA, Smarpal Singh, Yashpreet Singh, Lovpreet Singh and Parminder Singh.
In the end, the vote of thanks was presented by Ravinder Singh, General Secretary JKGA.
